SLP India Day Hyderabad '13

"Stay away as much as possible", this was the advice that Jayaprakash Narayan (JP as he is known), founder of Loksatta Party had in response to an audience question which asked him how to should entrepreneurs deal with bureaucracy. JP's excellent key note was a fitting start to the Startup Leadership Program's inaugural India Day event.

JP touched upon the nuances of collusive and exploitative corruption. He asked entrepreneurs to not waste time in fighting exploitative corruption; the whole trouble is never worth. He did talk about the opportunities available in terms of the number of problems waiting to be solved. Hearing JP approach the problem of governance from a very objective standpoint was a refreshing point of view and gave me hope that we can hope to see change for the better in the foreseeable future. One of the most important aspects of JP's speech was his rightful stress on the importance of organization in creating a favorable and encouraging ecosystem.

Inspiring entrepreneurs like Rajiv Chilaka of Chota Bheem fame, Aloke Bajpai of Ixigo and Vamsi Reddy of Apalya spoke about their journeys and reflected on their experience. Hearing entrepreneurs who have slogged it out in the unforgiving heartlands of Indian startups, and seeing them come of it dusted and ready for the next big thing, was heartening.
